Tequila Mockingbird, paralyzed from the neck down eleven months ago in a Windy City Rollers bout, has taken her first steps!!! She declared that she would walk within a year, and due to sheer determination and strength of spirit, she has worked every waking moment to accomplish this feat! Although still wheelchair-bound, she has regained the use of her arms, hands and core. However, there is still a lot of grueling work ahead for her and she needs our help.
This weekend, she will attend Rollercon, an annual conference for roller derby players and supporters, where they will donate proceeds from raffle and t-shirt sales to her recovery fund. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Tequila to meet her supporters and help raise awareness about her miraculous struggle to recover. The money raised will go to help pay for desperately needed medical, rent, and other living expenses.
